A
Glorious day at Gransha Equestrian Centre
Competitors
and spectators had a wonderful day at the summer charity show held
at Gransha Equestrian Centre. The ground was in perfect condition,
the weather was glorious and the competitions were all very well
supported. The organisers would like to thank all the helpers in
particular Lynn Campbell who with the help of Alan McArthur manned
the office all day, not only taking entries but answering every
type of question imaginable at a horse show – and never once
did they loose their cool!
The Judges did an excellent job in the working hunter rings. In
the morning Fran Warden and Simon Jackson presided over the ponies,
while in the afternoon Kerry Harrison and Kirsty Stuart took over
and produced well deserved winners in all the classes.
The prize for Top Rider of the Day went to Emma Jackson who, as
you will see from the results, had a tremendous day on a variety
of horses! The prize was sponsored by Exquisite Make-up and Beauty
based adjacent to the equestrian centre.
Our thanks also go the Elaine McKee, proprietor of Equisuds Equine
Laundry, who sponsored the Working Hunter Derby’s and Finley
McVeigh of McVeigh Engineering who supplied prizes and goodie bags
for all the children in the pony show jumping classes.
Anne Rogers ran the show jumping rings very efficiently with the
help of a few riding club members, and the Riding Club will be holding
jumping shows for the next two Wednesday evenings in the same location.
The busiest ring by far all day was the Family Pony Ring, and enormous
thanks go to the judge, Liz Loney and her team of helpers Courtney
Stuart, Katie Roberts and Mark Robinson, who had the most difficult
jobs of the day, picking prize winners out of such a beautifully
turned out collection of ponies and riders.
The ring raised a sum of £400 which is going to the Wish House
Trust, a children’s charity that grants wishes to terminally
ill children.
The highlight of the day was the Fancy Dress Competition. Many mothers
must have been burning the midnight oil to create such inventive
and colourful outfits. The exhibitors paraded around the show and
were presented their prizes donated by Carrowdore Saddlery by our
visiting celebrity ‘Bat Man’ who we would like to thank
for his party spirit on this occasion.
